We have been busy this term with name writing, looking at the letter sound ‘i’, visiting Addlestone Library and starting our swimming lessons.
Last week we focused on writing our names, forming letters correctly and began writing numbers. The children in our morning sessions also followed instructions to independently make their own jam sandwich.
All the children taking part in swimming lessons have done extremely well, beginning to get themselves changed, testing out the water, building confidence and taking part in some fun activities. Those children that are already starting to swim are practising technique.
Our trip to Addlestone Library (despite the rain!) went well. We were very proud of the children representing preschool as they walked together, learnt about road safety and sat/listened well during our visit and explored what the local library can offer us. Take a look at your tapestry account for pictures.
In our afternoon sessions we have been using nursery rhymes to help with our learning. The children have been taking part in activities linked to the nursery rhymes ‘Humpty Dumpty’ and ‘Incy Wincy Spider’. They have practised fine motor skills to make a glittery web and constructed using bricks for Humpty’s wall. Outside they have watered the plants, dug in the soil and planted cress seeds. We hope your cress seeds have grown as well as the ones in preschool!
We have also been fascinated with the ants in our Ant world as they move around to get food and water. We have been counting them to check they are all ok – but they don’t keep still!
Next week: planting and growing – all children. Height and measuring in our morning sessions.
