We are back! The children have all been amazing this week and taken all the changes in their stride as we got down to some serious fun and learning. It was great to welcome their smiling faces, see how much they have all grown and hear about the things that they have been up to over the last few weeks.
We have started looking at the story of ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ and taken part in activities to increase our fine motor skills (threading, tracing, writing, drawing). We also played ‘Hungry Caterpillar Bingo’ in our groups.
The children liked their trays full of new resources for their own use (paints, pens, glitter gel, colouring sheets, bingo boards, glue sticks, wipe boards/chalk boards and more), they each looked through and chose what they wanted to use. These trays will be used over the next few weeks and be refilled with different resources for them to select and explore each session.
We have enjoyed the lovely weather and explored a range of materials outside including foam and soapy water. We rode bikes and ran around with our friends in our new colour groups.
Of course alongside this we learnt more about keeping each other safe at this time, how often and for how long we need to clean our hands, ‘catch it, kill it, bin it’ and sharing things only within our groups.
Next week: we will continue with our Hungry Caterpillar theme and look at maths learning activities.
