We began the week looking at shapes, identifying them and using them to make arrangements. We did this with large shapes on the floor as a group and with smaller shapes on paper to take home.
At the end of the week we read/watched and talked about the story of ‘The Three Billy Goat’s Gruff’ following the children’s interest. They made masks and took on the role of the troll, using language to interpret the story themselves and retell it. Then individually they made a background scene and some lollipop stick puppets to help them retell the story to an adult.
The children also had lots of chances to play outside with shapes, bikes, water and building bricks. There were also some lovely Father’s Day surprises made by the children this week ready for Sunday.
Next week: we will start looking at the story ‘Room on the Broom’ and take part in lots of activities to hear rhyming words/strings, expand our vocabulary and explore the meaning of new words.
