There were a lot of fires to put out at preschool this week as the children took on the role of fire fighters. They were busy driving the fire engine, using hoses to put out the fire, taking emergency calls and filling out the paperwork. There were cats stuck in trees, houses on fire and just a lot of emergencies that had to be driven to really quickly! Shouts of “fire, fire” and “emergency” could be heard all week as they excitedly played together in our home corner fire station.
We explored shapes this week; naming simple shapes; going on a shape hunt; feeling inside the hidden tray to think about shape properties; playing ‘kim’s game’ to remember different shapes and using shapes to create pictures.
Next week: Jack and the beanstalk theme as we explore measuring. Campsite role play in our home corner – take a sneak peek here.
