We have been looking at the primary colours this week and the children have been exploring how these colours can be mixed, changed, and the new colours that they can make.

They completed colour mixing sheets one to one with an adult, worked in small groups to create large scale artwork and experimented in a whole group with colour changing tabs. There were also opportunities to mix these colours with ice, cotton wool and colour palettes, experimenting and predicting what might happen.

In our afternoon sessions we also explored colours, mixing paints and using a range of different materials to paint with.

Next week: Winnie’s Potion Lab (see pictures in our gallery) – there will be opportunities to mix, pour and the children will be encouraged to make predictions, test ideas and adapt what they are doing to achieve planned outcomes. In our afternoon sessions, we will also use different materials to mix, pour and explore.
