We have been bird watching in our bird hide this week and spotting the different types of birds (looking at details and differences).

We took the opportunity of some sunshine on Tuesday and went for a walk to the woods, where we spotted lots of birds up close, listened to their bird song, and got very muddy along the way!

We were very lucky to see a real birds nest and egg, then attempted to make our own birds nest with different materials that we though might resemble the real thing. Thank you to everyone that brought their bird spotting sheets back to show their friends and some other lovely items to share with us.

We enjoyed building a fire with some large sticks, balancing, climbing and jumping in our small wooded area this week – some of us got even muddier than we had on Tuesday.

All of the children had the chance to take part in a range of bird related activities – take a look at your tapestry account for more details.

In our morning sessions the children are now signing in each morning, finding their name and then writing it on the wipe boards. We have also been looking at letter sounds with them and seen some lovely evidence of home learning – brought in to share with us at registration.

Next week: we will explore the celebration of Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day. We will think about the letter sound ‘S’ with our morning children.
