The children have all been busy travelling through space this week as they explored our space station at preschool. They played alongside each other taking on a role in their play. There were some very keen astronauts and very cheeky aliens popping up around the room!
In our morning sessions we also thought about some new vocabulary and the children took part in some practical explanations of the terms ‘orbiting’ (where they became orbiting planets) and ‘oxygen’ (where they walked with weighted stilts and had to use an oxygen tank). They also explored numbers, estimating and counting while making some very nice space shuttles. Take a look at your tapestry account for more details.
Our afternoon children made some hanging solar systems, used the language of size and made shape rockets.
On Wednesday morning we had a very lovely Hartbeeps session – Toy Hospital. The children were taken on a journey to the toy hospital and had to look after the dolls, making them better, getting them fed and putting them to bed. It was such a great way for them to spend the morning and the smiling faces and keen participation said it all. Bryony from Hartbeeps will be running the same session for our afternoon children on Wednesday 26th May.
Next week: our home corner has become a baby bath area. Take a look at our Facebook page for photos. We will be following instructions and using our listening skills throughout the week, through a series of games, walks, stories and other activities.
