This week we have received postcards from Stick Man a he visited Australia, France, Iceland and South Africa. Our morning children found out a lot of new things about these countries and the animals that live there. Activities included: exploring ice and the vocabulary ‘melting’/’dissolving’; making Koala bear pictures, creating Eiffel towers and painted flags.
The morning children are progressing really well in their swimming lessons, which will continue after the half term break on a Tuesday morning. On Friday the children helped to build a bug hotel, ready for next half term’s learning. They each thought about the bugs that they would like to see and drew a bug to decorate the outside of the bug hotel – you can see a picture in our gallery.
In our afternoon sessions we had a visit from Hartbeeps and took a trip to the ‘Toy Hospital’ – see your tapestry account for images. We also got busy in our bakery home corner making cakes. Our story of the week was ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ and the children listened to the story in a group, then got to make their own cups of tea (pouring/mixing the water, tea bags, milk and sugar) with real tea sets. They even made their own tiger face masks – there was a lot of roaring at preschool that afternoon!
Next week: preschool is closed for HALF TERM. We return from Monday 7th June – enjoy the holiday.
AM children: Please remember to record what your own Stick Man gets up to in the books provided so that the children can share with their friends on their return to preschool.
