In our home corner this week the children have been busy fixing and measuring as they took on the role of mechanics. They repaired broken cars, built bridges, hammered nails and used pliers to remove them.

The children thought about reusing materials and came up with some great ideas including making a surfboard!!

Small groups went out to litter pick in the local area and ensured that we were correctly recycling all of our waste at snack times.

On Friday we visited the big school playground and played ring games, then enjoyed some ‘book time’ looking at books and talking with an adult about the ones we had picked (the main characters/illustrations/retelling what we knew about the story/drawing a picture to make our own booklet reflecting on our chosen stories). See your tapestry account for further details at www.tapestryjournal.com

In our afternoon sessions we learnt the nursery rhyme “Humpty Dumpty”, built a wall together as a team and then sat our balloon humpty on top – of course the wall had to come tumbling down.

Next week: we are looking at letter sounds in our morning sessions and the nursery rhyme ‘five little ducks’ (to help us with our counting/number recognition) in our afternoons.
